Mitchell Wade, MZM and Pentagon Domestic Surveillance. Writer CS writes, "Your post stirred a memory, and I tracked it down to this bit in Walter Pincus's 27 Nov. article in the Washington Post about the Pentagon push to get into domestic surveillance:
I for one would be very curious to know more about this contract..."One CIFA activity, threat assessments, involves using "leading edge information technologies and data harvesting," according to a February 2004 Pentagon budget document. This involves "exploiting commercial data" with the help of outside contractors including White Oak Technologies Inc. of Silver Spring, and MZM Inc., a Washington-based research organization, according to the Pentagon document.
It's almost comical. Trust us! Well, never mind. Where is the oversight? None of this would have come out without the federal investigation of Cunningham bribetaking. None of it. That's what's even scarier.
