Death squads, torture squads ... Is this what Rumsfeld and Cheney were going for? Are the neocons satisfied? Is this enough organized application of violence for their tastes? What in the world are we doing there? Now we get to police the institutions and police that we helped bring to power? Do most Americans care if it's the Shiites or Sunnis doing the torturing and killing? [I ask because one Fox News Channel watching acquaintance told me the solution if the US decides to pull out of Iraq next year is just to heavily arm the Shiites and let them kill the Sunnis, which sounds like the US would be openly promoting genocide.] Maybe Bush can discuss it in his fireside chats.
