Hate Speech: Is an al Qaeda-linked group behind the August 19 truck bombing of the UN headquarters in Baghdad, and the Friday attack on the Najaf mosque?

AP wire reports on Saturday suggest four people – two Saudis, and two Iraqis – linked to Al Qaeda have been detained in connection with the Friday mosque bombing that has killed more than 100 people.

One of the three groups claiming responsibility for the Aug. 19 UN bombing goes by the name Abu Hafs el-Masri Brigades. [Local reporters on the scene in Iraq say the group takes its name from the alias of Mohammed Atef, a bin Laden deputy killed in a US airstrike in Kabul Afghanistan in November 2001].

Below, via Quds Press, is the text of a statement from Abu Hafs El-Masri, explaining their reasons for supposedly targeting the UN. Whether or not they really did it, the reasoning the text's authors devise to justify the attack is chilling.

London, 25 Aug (Quds Press) -- The following is the text of a
statement issued by Abu-Hafs al-Masri Brigades, which belong to
al-Qa'ida organization headed by Usama Bin Ladin, on 19 August 2003.
In this statement, the organization claims responsibility for the
attack on the UN headquarters in Baghdad that led to the death of
about 25 persons and the wounding of tens of others. The statement was
published on the Website of the "Global Islamic Media
Center," which is believed to be closely associated with al-Qa'ida.

"And fight them on until there is no more tumult or
oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God." [Koranic verse]

A pause to explain the strategy of the battle with the tyrant of
the age (the United States) and its lackeys: When we spoke in the
previous statement -- "The Thunderbolt Operation in the Land of
the Tyrant of the Age (3)" issued on 17 Jumada al-Thani 1424,
corresponding to 15 August 2003 -- about "exhausting and cutting
up the serpent," which is the enemy (the United States and its
lackeys), we wanted by that to direct a strike, and for our strike to be
fatal, diversified, qualitative, and sudden so that the enemy will have no
time to know where, when, or how and who will strike.

Why the United Nations?
Before reviewing the history of this black organization, we would
like to explain certain matters:

1. The United Nations is against Islam. It is a branch of the US
State Department that donned the garb of the world organization, as
they claimed. The reader knows better than us. The United Nations
pursues a double-standard policy against Arabs and Muslims. This
matter needs no further proof, as it is crystal clear.

2. It was said that attacking the UN offices would make this
organization wash its hands off Iraq and leave everything to the
Americans, which would be harmful to Iraq. We say that this is a US
serial, which the Americans and the world were made to believe. Could
the slave disobey the orders of his master? The United Nations is
hostage to the Bush administration and its Zionist gang. The United
Nations will not leave Iraq unless the United States is wiped out, God
willing. This organization will remain to give legitimacy to the
United States and to reduce the economic burden on it. Where are the
reason and logic?

3. The United Nations is the big stick, which the United States
uses to punish whoever opposes its policy toward world states,
especially concerning US-Israeli security issues. It accuses the
Palestinians of terrorism and describes the criminal Jews as poor
victims.

4. The important question of legitimacy very briefly: It is
understood that the United States is the number one enemy of Islam. It
is the one fighting Islam everywhere. It kills directly in
Afghanistan, Iraq, etc., and indirectly in the Philippines, Kashmir,
and Palestine. In fact, it is the one that helps and protects the Jews
in Palestine. The United States and the United Nations admit that they
are against Islam and that the United States is an occupying power
under all laws and norms.

The past and present ulema of the nation agree that if an enemy
occupies an inch of Muslim territory, jihad becomes a duty. This means
the debtor can go to jihad without the permission of his creditor, the
son without the permission of his father, and the wife without the
permission of her husband. This point is agreed upon by the nation.
Whoever supports the United States or its lackeys, such as the United
Nations that wants to justify the invasion of Iraq, is an unbeliever
and apostate, even he if does that by word or signal. Ulema from all
the four schools are unanimous on this point.

Even the ulema of this age that describe themselves as the
centrist trend and call for a peaceful settlement with the tyrants and
puppet governments such as Shaykh Safar al-Hawali say: Any support or
assistance by Muslims for infidels, even if by mere words is outright
disbelief and clear hypocrisy. The perpetrator is a violator of one of
the restrictions of Islam, as expounded by the ulema of the call and
others. So what about those who help infidels with spearheads.
Therefore, we say that it is no crime if the mujahidin killed the
occupier or those who help him, whether Arabs or non-Arabs. We wish
them an unhappy trip to hell, damn them. But, if it is proven that a
person has been killed by mistake, we say, to God we belong and to Him
we return, and ask God to accept him among the martyrs. The blood of
the Muslim is more sacrosanct than the Kaabah. The prophet, may the
peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: Our hearts are torn with
grief over any male or female Muslim if pricked by a thorn, what if he
or she got killed.

Let the Iraqi people know that Abu-Hafs al-Masri Brigades is
against any action that harms the interests of the Iraqi people, such
as targeting the Abu Ghurayb prison or blowing up the main water pipe
in Baghdad because it is not allowable to harm Muslims."
And now the answer to the question posed:

Let this organization leave our land and let us and our religion
alone. Where is it from the Jewish crimes in Palestine and its empty
resolutions against the Jews, such as Resolutions 242 and 338? Was it
not the United States, this organization, and the rest of Crusaders
that curved up Palestine from the body of this nation some 50 years
ago? Is it not the United Nations that maintains silence over Russian
crimes in Chechnya in return for Russian silence over US crimes in
Bosnia, Afghanistan, Kashmir, and Palestine? Is it not the one that
gave the United States the right to wage war on Muslims under
Resolution 1171 in the name of war against terrorism (Islam)? Is it
not the one that backed the United States in striking at the mujahidin
in Afghanistan? Aren't the UN offices only a few hundred kilometers
away from the biggest prison for torturing Muslims, Guantanamo Base in
Cuba? Where is it from the massacre of Muslims all over the world;
Palestine, the Philippines, India, Afghanistan, etc.?

Was it not the United Nations that wept over the demolition of the
Budha statue in Afghanistan? Where was it from the demolition of
Barbery Mosque in India? Where was it from the massacres that were
committed against the Kurds and Azerbyzhanis and also in Sri Lanka,
Burma, Liberia, Indonesia, etc.?

Carla del Ponte, the chief prosecutor at the International Court
for War Crimes, said on 25 August 2002: "They (meaning the United
Nations) could have arrested Karadjic if they worked hard to achieve
this goal." Was it not this murderer who oversaw the massacre of
Bosnian women and children in 1992 and 1995? Didn't the British paper,
The Observer, report on 11 July 2003 that the United Nations was
responsible for the massacre of 7,000 Muslims in Cerbenitsa in 1995
because it sponsored the idea of "not establishing an Islamic
state in Europe?" Incidentally, the United States forbade its officers
who are charged with war crimes from appearing before that alleged court
and
the United Nations did not as much as utter a single word.

Was it not the United Nations that blessed the killing of
defenseless Afghan mujahidin by the Americans and the renegade
Northern Army in the infamous massacres of the age in Mazar-e Sharif
and Herat?

O people of Kashmir, this is your gift against the organization,
which sold you to the Hindus more than 50 years ago and did nothing.
How many times has this crusader organization promised to help you
without doing anything? Did it not issue Resolution 13 in 1947 that
gave you the right to self-determination? How many of you did the army
of the Hindus kill? It killed 80,000 Muslims, raped 7,000 women, and
orphaned 100,000 children. Where was the United Nations?

Here this, O people of Iraq, by God this liar organization only
spoke the truth on 28 June 2003 when it said that al-Qa'ida still
poses a big threat to international (Jewish-Crusader) security.

The Security Council was contradictory even in yesterday's
statement. The council expressed its shock over the attack. Why
doesn't the council express its shock over the killing of Muslims in
Palestine, Iraq, Kashmir, the Philippines, etc.? Where is the United
Nations from the abovementioned crimes? This organization is dominated
by the permanent member states. Of course, none of them is Muslim. The
UN crimes against Islam are innumerable. The way to get rid of this
humiliation is jihad, which shall continue until the Day of Judgment,
as the prophet said, whether others like it or not. The caravan
continues and the dogs are barking.

In view of what we said above:

The mujahidin carried out two operations; one in Afghanistan and
the other in Iraq. As for the one in Afghanistan, it did not go as the
mujahidin had planned. As soon as the mujahidin security organ learned
that the apostate, Hamid Karzai, would visit his brother in Kandahar,
the mujahidin made preparations to get rid of him. But, fate had
willed that Karzai would escape the sword of the mujahdin as he did in
several attempts before. We tell the Afghan people: Don't feel sad, we
will repeat the attempt. We also tell the apostate and traitor Karzai:
You need luck every time, but we need luck once only. The puppet
Afghan Government admitted that his brother was wounded and two other
persons were killed.

As for the strike in Iraq, it was a lesson to the United States
and its foreign department against Islam (the United Nations), which
polishes the ugly US image. The United States fights and the United
Nations makes the excuses for it. We warned the United Nations in
paragraph five of a previous statement, but, it is "deaf, dumb,
and
blind, and void of wisdom," as God described the infidels.

One of the mujahidin drove a truck full of explosives into the
backyard of the UN center, near the office of Sergio Vieira de Mello,
the doomed criminal and personal representative of the criminal and
slave of America, the doomed Kofi Annan. Do you have any idea who De
Mello is? He is a friend of criminal Bush. The explosion occurred half
an hour after the meeting the doomed de Mello held with the
representative of the Civil Administration of the US occupation, the
criminal Paul Bremer, and some apostates. The mujahidin carried out
the strike behind the building so that none of the innocent Iraqi
passersby would be hurt. The mujahidin had warned the Muslims not to
come near the centers of infidels and apostates, especially in the
coming days and weeks. God willing, this winter will be full of
misfortunes for the enemies of Islam.

This blessed operation razed a number of criminals, including
Benon Sivan, (the director of the oil-for-food program), the criminal
who barred food from and dominated the Iraqi people. Scores of
American soldiers were also killed along with members of the apostate
Iraqi police, which serves and guards the Americans for a few dollars
and sells its religion for small worldly things. The dead also
included some employees of this infidel organization with the black
history against Muslims.

This criminal, Sergio Vieira de Mello was the one who tried to
polish the image of the United States, the Crusaders, and the Jews in
Lebanon, Kosovo, and now Iraq. He was America's first man in the
United Nations. He was nominated by Bush to take over the United
Nations after the criminal and slave of America Kofi Anna. He was the
Crusader who curved up part of the land of Islam (East Timor). In the
UN law against Islam, independence is forbidden to Muslims:

Independence is permissible for East Timor, but taboo for Kashmir.

Independence is permissible for Christian Georgia, but taboo for
Chechnya.

Independence is permissible for Crusader Croatia, but taboo for
Bosnia (except under the Daylton terms).

Incidentally, this (Al-Qanah Hotel) was the headquarters of the
United Nations for starving the Iraqi people for 12 years, from 1990
until the bombing, with the help of the criminal Saddam Husayn,
disarming the land of the Caliphate, and destroying the civilization
of the land of Mesopotamia.

O people of Iraq, this organization, (the United Nations), is not
your awaited savior or lifeline, but is part of the Crusader and
Jewish plotting against you. Don't you recall that on 9 July 2002 the
United States, Britain, and the United Nations suspended Iraq's
request for medicines against cancer and medicines for cases resulting
from the body rejecting kidney transplant? Don't you remember who
caused the killing of more than 1 million Iraqis in an embargo that
lasted 12 years? But, why is there no embargo on the Zionist entity,
which refuses to implement the UN resolutions? Was it not the United
Nations that pulled out its forces from the Iraqi-Kuwaiti border so
the United States could attack Iraq? Was it not the United States that
used depleted uranium against you without the United Nations making a
single move? The list is endless, and this is not the place to review
this organization's crimes against the Iraqi people in particular and
the nation in general.

Finally, greetings to the heroes of the holy land in Palestine,
who pleased us with the damage they caused to the sons of the apes in
Jerusalem. The Jerusalem gift, which we promised, is coming, God
willing. When and where? Let us hope it would be soon.
